Our history began in 1969 when Theo immigrated to the United States from a small village in southern Greece and began a restaurant with his brothers in Flushing, New York. When he married Stacy, also a native of Greece, the couple began to look for a smaller community to move to. Determined to fulfill the American dream they left their home country for, Theo realized Kalamazoo was an ideal environment to raise a family-warm, friendly people, good schools, and an interest in Greek food and culture! They moved here and bought a small restaurant on W. Michigan Avenue in downtown Kalamazoo, thus Theo and Stacy were the first to introduce Greek food to the Kalamazoo area. To give thanks to the community for welcoming and supporting the family, Theo and Stacy began offering free Thanksgiving dinners to the community in 1977. In the early 1980’s Stacy’s sisters joined the family business. Soon after, Phyllis and George along with Theo and Stacy, opened the Westnedge Avenue location. In 1984, Tessie, Elliot, Theo and Stacy, opened their third location on Portage Road. The family welcomes you to Theo & Stacy’s Restaurants. Although Theo passed on in 1994, Stacy continues this tradition to this day. Stacy invites you to come enjoy her rich Greek heritage of fine food and hospitality.
